What I used to aim for
When I was younger, I always aimed to minimise pain and maximise pleasure. I always tried to put in minimum amount of work to achieve something. I was that type of person, who always see the obstacles rather than the goals. Travelling to a beautiful new location, I always picked on the obstacles to worry about, like the long painful road (I used to get really bad car sickness), or the inconvenience if travelling with young children.
I am learning to change the way I live and go on journey in my life. Renovating the bathroom in my new house, I have had to put in so many effort. Many times I wonder why I couldn't have just moved in and live with the current bathroom. Because it is still ok, and the work we had to put to manage the project and the emotional roller coaster that seems to tear us apart, rather than bring us together. Again, I just saw the pain in the journey. It's very hard for me to focus on the end result for some reason. I always focus on the noise, the pains and all the rocks on the way.
But then, I am training myself to focus on the end result. Because if I just aim for an average result, when will I ever get an A?
